Welcome to the 2008 season! We’ve put together a selection of great Sunday rides, starting
with some easier routes at the beginning of the schedule. We also
have a Wednesday evening backroads ride for fat tired bikes, too!
Our rides are fun and we hope that you will join us as we explore our
great area, and that of New York and Canada, too.
Please contact
us
if you have any questions.
Ride Classifications
Rides will be categorized
as follows:
- E: Easy, up to 20 miles, average
under 10 mph, not necessarily flat, but close
- EM: Average Riders, up to 35
miles, average under 12 mph, some hills
- M: Experienced Riders, average
16 mph or less, expect varied terrain with hills
- S: Strong Riders, no limits,
any terrain possible including mountainous
While the pace of each ride
will conform more or less to the riders that show up, ride organizers
will provide route maps. Scheduled stops will be announced at the beginning
of the ride. All riders must wear a bicycle helmet while on club rides.
And above all, riders are encouraged to have a good time and ride safely!
Riders must be aware of rules
of the road and use safe riding practices at all times. Make sure your
bicycle is in good repair before bringing it on a ride. Ride organizers
are not expected to repair bikes, although if there is a mechanical
problem on a ride, anyone who can help is greatly appreciated.
The published time for the
ride is the meeting time. The rides start 15 minutes later.
Please be there by the published time so that the rides start on (or
close to) schedule.
Ride Leaders Read Below!
All ride leaders are volunteers
who are giving their time in support of the Green Mountain Bicycle Club.
Ride leaders should arrive at the designated meeting place 15 minutes
before the meeting time, with maps, sign-in sheet and waiver form. It
is important for ride leaders to check for new or less experienced riders
at the start of a ride so that no one is left at the back unwillingly
and meeting places for snacks or lunch can be planned. Ride organizers
are not required to repair bikes or wait for latecomers.
