Special GMBC and Richard Tom Foundation Gravel Ride

Cochran's Ski Area
Address: 910 Cochran Rd, Richmond, VT 05477, USA
The routes will be unmarked, and there are no designated food stops or sag support. Maps and cue sheets will be available at the start.
This event is free! Donations to RTF greatly appreciated. GMBC is organizing the event, and RTF will provide post-ride burgers, brats, and soft drinks as a thank you for all the support we have received from the cycling community. BYOB if you want to celebrate with a beer or two – bring extra to share and celebrate as we shift from the outdoor riding season to skiing (and perhaps fat biking) in our wonderful state of Vermont.
We are hoping for good weather and a large turnout! Help us celebrate all that GMBC offers and share the spirit of fun and adventure that Richard Tom exemplified throughout his life!
- Mass start time: 10:00 a.m. (earlier individual start, modified routes also okay)
- Anticipated finish times: 1:00 - 2:00-ish (gauge your start time accordingly)
- Burger Fest: around 2:00 provided by RTF. Bring a beverage of your choice

This is a gravel version of the covered bridges ride. 31 miles (M/S) of dirt roads and rolling hills through Shelburne and Charlotte. Two thirds of the route is unpaved with two sections of farm track and roughly 2.000 ft of elevation gain. Possible food stops include the Old Brick Store in Charlotte (no restrooms). Visit covered bridges in Chittenden County; Shelburne, Holmes, Sequin, and Quinlan.

The route is mostly well maintained gravel with light traffic. There are several long climbs and some long fast descents. The scenery is great we will stop a few times at the best views. Caution is advised crossing Rte. 108 and descending Canyon, particularly when crossing the covered bridge where on a sunny day the transition from light to dark can be tricky. Also, the deck of the bridge has treads that should be taken slowly. VT gravel at its best.

A cue sheet will be posted as soon as available. It is also available on the GMBC RWGPS maps.
